[Columbus, 2/01/25] – Local Cantina, a cherished Tex-Mex establishment that has served the community with authentic flavors and a vibrant dining experience, will be closing its doors as it transitions to new ownership. After years of dedication and passion for delivering Mexican-inspired cuisine, Local Cantina New Albany is set to pass the torch to an innovative new restaurant group. While this chapter is closing, the team is thrilled to focus on the expansion of its boutique dining concept, Bendi Wok N Bar, with its recent opening in the heart of Downtown New Albany.

Bendi Wok N Bar, which has quickly gained a reputation for its authentic Asian-inspired dishes and trendy, inviting ambiance. The concept blends elevated wok-style cooking with a dynamic bar scene, providing an eclectic experience that continues to resonate with guests. 

“It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to our New Albany location, but we’re genuinely excited about this new phase,” said George Tanchevski, founder of both Local Cantina and Bendi Wok N Bar. “The New Albany community has been incredibly supportive over the years, and we’re eager to share Bendi Wok N Bar’s unique flavors and atmosphere with more people as we expand.” 

The final day of service at Local Cantina New Albany was January 31st, 2025. 

The new restaurant group acquiring the space has expressed enthusiasm for building on Local Cantina's legacy, with plans to introduce an innovative concept that aligns with the community’s love for fresh, quality-driven dining experiences.

About Orange Umbrella Restaurant Group 
Orange Umbrella Restaurants was established in October 2012 in Columbus, Ohio with Local Cantina. Owner George Tanchevski had a vision to open a fresh kitchen with scratch made food and sauces centered on a Tex-mex style cuisine. A late-night dining spot featuring a taco-centric menu with a fun atmosphere wrapped around a bar produced the first Local Cantina. His goal to serve good food and drinks, with genuine hospitality would make the concept a home run. In a short 10 year span Local Cantina has grown to fifteen locations around Ohio and Florida. During this time, Local Cantina has grown into other concepts and into the restaurant group known as Orange Umbrella Restaurants, or OUR Group.  

OUR Group has proudly expanded beyond Local Cantina to a set of Boutique concept brands. Other concepts with similar models of fresh, scratch-made food and genuine hospitality. Each has its own unique cuisine influence including Modern American, Italian, Pan-Asian and Sushi. OUR Group also runs a disco nightclub and a dive bar. Each location within OUR Group strives to craft a higher standard of food, drink and service and to promote growth within ourselves and within the community.
